I do not want to be called “lain-lain”. I am a Dayak!

Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony
Everytime I have to fill a government form I get upset because the race category is provided for Malay: Chinese: indian dan Lain-lain. I am not one of the three and so I assumed that I am categorise under lain-lain. This is when I always got upset because i do not want to be known as lain -lain in my own country. I am the real native and I am known as a Dayak. Borneo belongs to Dayak!.
Why do we still need such form?
After 48 years of Malaysia why do we need a form to differentiate between race and religion. Can’t we just have a form that says MALAYSIAN  and OTHER NATIONALITIES? In that way, we Malaysian would feel like one. Today we are not. 1 Malaysia is a fake.
If we are NOT then why do we spent so much money promoting 1 Malaysia. It a hoax by the BN government. It is a scheme to plunder the people’s money to finance the campaign. It is a failure because the government through the ‘official form” has declared that we are NOT 1 Malaysia.
Lain-Lain?
What is the government interpretation and policy on treating the race category under lain-lain. Are we non citizen or are we second class citizen. The Dayak Ministers and MPs do not even bother to clear up the detail on this category. Is it the reason why the Dayak are not given equal opportunities  to work in the civil service and get due promotion. Is this a scheme to subdue the real natives of Malaysia and replace  the real prince of the soil with its mixed bag of people who claim to be Malay – with Middle-Eastern origin and a Muslim etc.
Now do not blame us for raising such matters because I am discussing about the “official form” that is being used by the Government. What happen if you are Indonesian and then you claim yourself as Malay just because you are a Muslim – is that right? Who is more lain-lain now in this case?
I am not racialist but the government is. The proof is in the official form.
Moving forward
If it is difficult to move this matter forward Malaysia wide I proposed that the Dayak of Sabah and Sarawak should create a forum and referendum to asked the Dayak whether they want to be categorized as Lain- Lain is it is acceptable by them?
We can do this either through NGOs with the support of the Government or if the government cannot face this reality then a team of NGOs can proceed to conduct this referendum. The earlier the better, before the next Malaysia General election.
Dayak for a start should stop voting for BN in the coming State election. This will send a clear message to BN that the Dayak are dead serious. by not wanting to be called lain-lain.  By the way, Najib and UMNO is in Putra Jaya because of Dayak support. Should we not deserved what is rightly ours – that is our race “Dayak”. Our land is Borneo and Sabah and Sarawak is part of Borneo.
Satu rumpun 2 Negara.
Conclusion
The best solution is NOT to have “official form” with racial category. It means that Malaysian government is a racist government. Policies and programs are design to benefit a single race at the expense of others. We must stop it by Change WE Must.
Aram kitai berubah ngundi perintah baru.
